Road Cycling Holidays - French Alps region The Alps have for a long time drawn to their attraction, swarms of road cycling enthusiasts all wanting to emulate the efforts of their Tour de France icons. The Tour comes to the Alps every year and it is historically where the Tour is normally won. Its combination of gruelling climbs and spectacular cols are enough to test the hardiest of road cyclists. Why don't you come and join the throngs of French, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and other English cyclists and experience the camaraderie found whilst cycling some of the most technical climbs to be found. Pit your wits, skill and stamina on some of the recognised Tour de France routes. Staying at our fully catered luxury chalet we will also provide you with the necessary support vehicle to take you, your supplies and any repair equipment along with you for the days cycling. All you need to do is bring your bike and cycling gear and we will assist with the rest. N.B. The cost of the hire of the van is not included in the price of the accommodation. The hire of the van as support vehicle varies depending on the stage you wish to do. Possible routes 1. 2003 Tour de France stage - Sallanches St Jean de Maurienne to Alpe D'Huez via Col de Telegraphie (cat 2 climb) (1566M), Col de Galibier (cat 1 climb) (2645M) then the hill climb to Alp D'Huez (Cat 1climb) where Pantini historically holds the record and was out of the saddle and in the drops all the way up.- This route was completed after a gruelling day from Lyon to Morzine in 90 degree heat. 219K This is best started from St Jean De Maurienne. Cost of van and driver for the day £200. 6am start from Morzine, arrive start 9am. 2. 2003 Tour De France Stage - Lyon to Morzine via Col de La Ramaz (1559M) 230Km. This Van hire and driver for day. £150 3. Avoriaz time trial over the Col de Joux Plane- not as gruelling as the Alpe D'Huez but will test you all the same. 4. Morzine to Morzine via Samoens and the Col de Joux Verte - This circular route can be taken in either direction. Anti clockwise will give you a harder climb up from Samoens to the Col de Joux Verte but the clockwise direction means a climb from Morzine to the Col then another climb from Taninges to Les Gets. Other routes will be considered. Make you own itinerary and we will help plan it. Full weeks or Long weekends available.
Included in the price of the stay will be Accommodation, breakfast every day and three course evening meal with wine or beer. This can be tailored to suit any dietary requirements that you will need for you cycling. Not included in the price are - Transport to the chalet. Airport transfers from Geneva can be arranged at 60 Euros return pp (min cost 100Euros). - Hire of the minibus for a support vehicle for day out. - Equipment and repairs.
